From 1 July 2023, the existing Basic Map of the Czech Republic and the State Map 1:5,000 will be replaced by a new form of the basic medium-scale state map work produced by the Land Surveying Office - the Basic Topographic Map of the Czech Republic.

These are topographical maps processed on the basis of ZABAGED® and Geonames data. They provide basic topographical information in the scope of the list of map marks for the Basic Topographical Maps of the Czech Republic (ZTM CR) at scales of 1:5,000, 1:10,000, 1:25,000, 1:50,000, 1:100,000 and 1:250,000. ZTM CR are processed in two coordinate reference systems - in the national S-JTSK (ZTM/S-JTSK) and maps in scales 1: 10,000, 1: 25,000, 1: 50,000, 1: 100,000 and 1: 250 000 in addition in the international ETRS89-TMzn (ZTM/ETRS89). The advantages of map sheets and their markings also correspond to this. The ZTM/S-JTSK map sheet stack, in contrast to the ZM ČR map sheet stack, is not rotated with respect to the S-JTSK coordinate axes, and thus more corresponds to the needs of using digital data in GIS. In addition, it is compatible with large-scale map clades. The set of ZTM/ETRS89 map sheets is based on the recommendations of the INSPIRE legislation and uses geographical coordinates to define the territory.

The maps are printed using digital technology in the CMYK color model.
